Hi there. Welcome to my WebZone. You can call me Gremlin ‘MrC’ Forester. Adventurer, technically an artist and sort of a programmer but all around nice guy. I enjoy retro video game modding and in particular retro FPS games. As a hobbyist game developer I dabble in a bit of everything. My main focus at the moment is to become a better gameplay programmer or at least become good enough to make something useful and maybe even fun.
This is a spot where I’ll be infrequently adding updates for things I’m working on or want to bring attention to. If anything here is useful to even one person than my job is done!
Some tools I use:
- 3DS Max which I use primarily for converting meshes, rigging (if needed) and some animation.
- Photoshop is my go to for image editing.
- 3D Coat for quickly unwrapping a mesh and painting, easy to use, powerful.
- Radiant (specifically NetRadiant-custom) is my level editor of choice, perhaps one day I’ll make more than just test maps.
- Notepad++ for editing QuakeC.
- Visual Studio for actual C.
- Atom for any web dev, like this Hugo powered website (see below).
On the TODO list is to learn Blender.
Some tools worth mentioning:
- Wally (great for working with older game texture formats especially when it comes to batch conversions).
- QME awesome tool for viewing Quake 1 and 2 models.
“May fortune favor the foolish.” - James T. Kirk
Happy modding everyone!
