Welcome to Quake Strogganoff: A recipe for disaster…

This is development blog that will chronicle some of my adventures in Quake modding as I’ve been learning to program. This mod is a Quake 2 (aka Quake II) mod using the DarkPlaces source port primarily aimed at implementing Quake 2’s enemies and weapons in QuakeC.

Yea, but, why?

  • Learn gameplay code with something simple1 yet fulfilling.

  • Work on stuff that I can write little updates about.

  • Uncomplicate my life as much as possible while still keeping things challenging and fun2.

I hope it’ll serve as a good learning experience while fulfilling my love for retro FPS games and an itch to get involved in some small way with the community or maybe it’ll kick my ass completely and this blog will act as a record of my shame that will linger on long after I’m gone, like a fart in an elevator.
